About the Author

Kayla E. Green is an award-winning author and poet who writes to remind others—and herself—that light always prevails over darkness. When she isn’t writing, reading, or spending time with her family, she loves singing loudly and off-key to KLove Radio and pretending she’s a unicorn. Fittingly, her YA debut fantasy novel is titled The Goodness of Unicorns.

More from Kayla

Have you ever been in the car and heard just the right song at just the right moment? Or heard just the message you needed at a specific point in your life on Sunday morning like the pastor is speaking directly to you?

Throughout crafting the poems that now make-up the contents of Metamorphosis, I realized that my testimony navigating depression and anxiety is incomplete without my faith. It is the love of God that allows transformation. As such, each poem within the collection is paired with a Bible verse. No matter what we are facing in life, we can find strength in our Lord and through His Word.

Visit this slideshow and see what Bible verse awaits you today. Share how the verse resonates with you and/or suggest a worship song that it reminds you of on social media and be sure to tag me (@author.kayla.e.green on Instagram) so I can reply! https://www.canva.com/design/DAHAUXF0oAI/kU3r4XgiHh-uOUWZUHQrPA/view?utm_content=DAHAUXF0oAI&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=uniquelinks&utlId=hb6054e54cf

Interview with Kayla

When did you write your first book and how old were you?

I wrote and illustrated my first book when I was in elementary school. I called it “The Lonely Guinea Pig,” and I remember I used electrical tape to create the book’s “binding.” I haven’t seen that creation in years—either long gone or stuffed in a box in my parents’ attic—but it definitely was the start of a lifelong writing career. 😊

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

Aside from reading and participating in book club/buddy reads, I also enjoy listening to music, painting, and drawing. Spending time with my family is also important to me.

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

As of today, I have written and published one poetry collection (Metamorphosis), one novella (Aivan: The One Truth), and one full-length novel (The Goodness of Unicorns). Additionally, I have written three unpublished manuscripts. Two are under contract with Ambassador International and set to release October 2026 and 2027, respectively. The third completed novel, Project Camelot, is a middle grade story full of humor that I’m excited to begin querying. I also have another poetry collection under contract with Twenty Hills Publishing, tentatively releasing in 2028.

Where can readers find out more about you and your books?

Readers can connect with me on Instagram (@author.kayla.e.green) and through my website (theunicornwriter.com).

Any current or upcoming projects you’d like to tell us about?

There are so many exciting things in the works including upcoming releases (Faith of the Phoenix, Pirate Hunters and Fallen Stars, and Project Poe[tree]) as well as new WIPs: Project Sun, Project Kansas, and Project Doom. For the fastest updates, readers can follow me on social media. I have a channel on IG that has some awesome freebies available for those that join 🙂
