This story, Mara, In The Face of Battle… is the second in the Victory Series. The series found me. My genre is historical romance. I was building a following, won some awards, and loved what I was doing. But as I finished up my last series the Holy Spirit made it very clear that Mara would be my next project. From my own personal experience of spiritual warfare where Satan has come to steal, kill, and destroy, (as Jesus warned in John 10:10), I was to write a series on a character named Mara from birth to death. I think this approach is unique in and of itself. But then to weave in the unseen, how angels fight to protect, and the darkness seeks to destroy, adds a whole new and deep dimension.

Interview with Blossom

When did you write your first book and how old were you?

Finding out I wanted to be a writer happened late in life. I always

loved to write but had to work jobs that paid the bills. It wasn’t until I had a season in my life where I was forced to slow down because of health issues that I woke up one morning after a dream that gave a basic plot and decided to write the kind of book I love to read— love stories and suspense.

What would you say is the most difficult part of writing a book?

The part I like the least about the whole writing process is the marketing of the book. It is not an interest of mine, nor a gift…so I struggle to put myself and my work out there.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

-I am a woman of contrasts. I’m a thrill seeker, have jumped out of airplanes, yet like to curl up by the fire with a good book and my German Shepherd Bernese cross, named Lacey

-I love gardening, and the am known as the flower lady in my neighborhood.

-I love Jesus more than life itself.

Do you base your characters on real people?

There is always an element of truth and life experience poured into all my characters. I love studying people, their antics, their personalities and what makes them unique or the same as others.

When writing fiction, I change the story to protect the innocent and the not-so-innocent…as in this latest series Mara, The Unseen Battle, but for authenticity there is nothing better than a real-life character to use as a template.
