About the Author

Todd Woodfill is a modern-day Renaissance man whose life could be inspirational if it didn’t so closely resemble a comedy sketch. Married to his absolutely amazing, beautiful, intelligent, and talented wife Holly for a whirlwind 30 years so far, he couldn’t imagine doing life without her support.  With four incredible children and one extraordinary grandchild, who refer to Todd as Dad, Papa, dork, old timer, and weirdo, Todd has been blessed far more than he deserves.

Passionate about mental health and suicide prevention, men’s ministries, Legos, boxing, and pursuing God, Todd is a man of many talents and clearly a master of none.  But who else can seamlessly switch from being a Jordan sneaker connoisseur to a boxing enthusiast, all while building men’s ministries and helping those with mental health challenges.  Heck, this guy can be found passionately discussing the virtues of mental wellness, only to break into a joyful song from a Disney classic, spreading cheer like a modern-day Mary Poppins with a passion for Christ. His life is a whirlwind of laughter, love, and an unshakable faith, making him the ultimate blend of humor and heart in a world that often takes itself too seriously.

Interview with Todd

How long does it take you to write a book?

For me, the writing time can vary greatly. The amount of time I spend researching a topic for any of my books, including Fight Night, varies, but it’s extensive. I first develop the structure of the book, then dive much deeper into each section. Once a chapter is written, I don’t just move on—I meticulously go back over it anywhere from 10 to 30 times, refining how the main theme is being addressed.

Beyond traditional research, prayer plays a critical role in my process. While I continuously pray during writing, before my editor or anyone else reads a chapter, I take time to specifically ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. I seek clarity on whether anything needs to be changed, added, or removed. Only when I feel peace about a chapter do I move forward.

When you add it all up, I can easily spend 50 to 200 hours researching a single topic, ensuring that every lesson is biblically sound, impactful, and speaks directly to the hearts of men seeking to grow in faith. Typically, my average total time to complete a book would be between three to six months.

What are your favorite books to read?

Anything by Timothy Keller, Lee Strobel, and Max Lucado is high on my list. Timothy Keller has the ability to combine deep biblical insight with real-world application. His writing challenges readers to think critically about their faith, not just accept surface-level answers. Lee Strobel is unmatched with his investigative approach to faith. He doesn’t just present ideas—he digs deep, asks hard questions, and backs up his conclusions with evidence. Max Lucado has a gift for storytelling and his ability to make complex spiritual truths feel personal. He writes with a tone that is engaging, heartfelt, and deeply relatable.

Beyond those, I also enjoy books that challenge men to grow in their faith and leadership, books that explore biblical history with depth, and anything that pushes me to be a better husband, father, and leader. Reading isn’t just about enjoyment for me—it’s about sharpening my understanding of God, strengthening my character, and equipping myself to better serve others.

What would you say is the most difficult part of writing a book?

Since I focus on biblical truth, strengthening character, and growing in faith, the most difficult part for me is ensuring that I am biblically correct, sharing accurate and truthful insights, and aligned with the calling God has for me. There is a lot of pressure in ensuring I hold to these core values. Writing a book that addresses spiritual matters, particularly in a way that challenges men to grow in faith, requires a level of accountability that I don’t take lightly. I want my words to encourage and empower, but I also need to make sure they are firmly grounded in God’s Word and reflect His heart. That responsibility weighs heavily on me, and it requires a lot of prayer, reflection, and careful study to ensure I get it right.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

When I’m not writing, my focus is on pouring into others and strengthening relationships. I run a men’s ministry called Warriors For His Glory, where I help men grow in their faith, become better husbands and fathers, and take on the challenges of today’s world with a Christ-centered mindset. Mentoring and walking alongside other men is something I’m deeply passionate about.

On a personal level, I’m also in the empty-nest stage of life, which has given me an incredible opportunity to reconnect with my wife in a new way. Whether it’s through daily conversations, small moments of laughter, or our frequent trips to Disney World, I truly enjoy investing in our marriage and making the most of this season of life.

What does your family think of your writing?

My wife has been incredibly supportive throughout the entire writing process. She not only encourages me but also provides valuable feedback, often helping me see things from a different perspective than I might naturally consider. Her wisdom and insight have been a huge blessing in refining my message and ensuring it speaks to a broader audience.

As for the rest of my family, I believe they’re proud of the work I’m doing, but like most families, everyone is busy with their own day-to-day responsibilities. Writing isn’t necessarily a frequent discussion topic, but I know they support me in their own way, and that means a lot.
