Interview with Mindy

Is writing your full-time career? Or would you like it to be?

I want to say that I am a full time author, but some days it gets hard to get any writing in at all. I’m a wife, mother, and grandmother first.

Have you always wanted to be a writer?

Always, but family always came first. God’s timing was perfect. I’ve been able to follow my dream with a better understanding and a lot more wisdom by waiting until He opened the right doors for me.

What has been your favorite part of the publishing journey?

I love the whole process, but winning the Faith, Hope, and Love Readers Choice awards…twice, was certainly a highlight. Ask my agent, my assistant, or even my husband, but I always feel like the story is not ready. With multiple deadlines, you have to let it go and hit send no matter. I’ve only entered two contests, and won in my category. It’s validating that you’ve done well and readers have found what they were seeking in my books, despite what my inner Mindy is telling me.

Tell us about your first published book? What was the journey like?

To Catch A Hummingbird is the first book in my Millers Creek series, and still holds a special place in my heart. It released in May of 2021, and no matter how many books I’m blessed with sharing with others, Silas and Lydia’s story never leaves my thoughts.

What was the highlight of writing this book?

The biggest highlight was creating a character who loved herbal remedies. As an Appalachian, I’ve often turned to nature for simple cures and support. I was blessed to have spent time with a few Amish healers, but much of what was included in the book, was gained by hands-on wisdom I had already attained. It’s easier to “write what you know”.

Where can readers find out more about you and your books?

Any current or upcoming projects you’d like to tell us about?

I have three more books releasing this year. A short novella called Leaving Lancaster in A Lancaster Amish Christmas, releasing in September. Another short novella called An Ideal Christmas in an Amish Christmas Table,  releasing in October, and another book in the Heart of The Amish series, called A Stolen Kiss. A Stolen Kiss will be here December 1st. I’m so exciting to introduce readers to a few new characters and a few returning favorites.
