Interview with Elizabeth

What was your favorite book when you were a kid? Did it play any part in your writing style today?

Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle! I loved this children’s series. My third-grade teacher read them to us and I never forgot them. I read them to my children. These stories play no role at all in my style of writing today, but perhaps they simply watered the seeds already planted in my heart—the love of stories and the deep desire to write them.

What book is currently on your bedside table?

Currently I have no beside table (we moved and I need to get one!), but that’s not wht yo’re really asking. While I have too many print books to count, I have even more filling up my Kindle and iBooks. I have books at both venues. The book that is “on my bedside table” or rather that I’m currently reading is Wrong Alibi: An Alaska Mystery by Christina Dodd

Is writing your full-time career? Or would you like it to be?

Since I write for both Revell (a division of Baker Publishing Group) and for Love Inspired Suspense I’m definitely a full-time writer, but I’m also a full-time everything else. Ha! There are not enough hours in the day to get everything done—but I get my books turned in on time!

Have you always wanted to be a writer? Pretty much. I had that dream at a very early age—like maybe seven or eight—but it was buried for years until finally I decided to try my hand at getting published. In 2001 I joined ACRW (Now ACFW) when there were maybe 100 members. That was the best decision I ever made and after two decades of writing, I have never regretted one moment.

What were the key challenges you faced when writing this book?

Making a book about hackers interesting. I couldn’t let the story be told with characters staring at their computers, so I had to find a way to make cybercrime more actionable. I had to work closely with a cyber-security expert and I learned so much about that sector which changes every single day.

Any current or upcoming projects you’d like to tell us about?

Critical Alliance is the third book in my Rocky Mountain Courage Series and releasing in July. I’m currently working on the second book in a series called MISSING IN ALASKA. The first book is called COLD LIGHT OF DAY. I’m so thrilled that Revell lets me write for them!
