His Encouragement #41-The Battle is Not Yours

For 2020, I have chosen Isiah 41:10 as my personal verse. This lead into a theme for this year’s “His Encouragement” posts. Each week, I will look at another “fear not” Scripture of the Bible. I hope that as we journey together through these verses that we all will learn a little more about trusting God and rooting out the fear in our lives.

And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

2 Chronicles 20:15 KJV

Have you ever felt like you were fighting a battle you could never win?

Maybe you’re feeling like that right now with the elections, COVID-19, online schooling, cancer, social pressures… maybe it’s not a new battle but an age-old war like raising children, or relationship problems, family stress, job stress, financial stress… sometimes in life it can seem like every day is another battle against something or even someone.

King Jehoshaphat was up against a battle like that. The Southern Kingdom could never defeat their enemy on their own, so what did they do?

They prayed!

And while they were praying, the Spirit of the Lord fell on a man named Jahaziel, and he shared God’s message with the people. And the next day, things happened just as God had said.

Maybe it’s time to stop fighting and give your battles over to the Lord. Let Him fight them for you.

I like this: “Maybe it’s time to stop fighting and give your battles over to the Lord. Let Him fight them for you.” Amen!!! I often try to take all things on on my own. Things rarely work out when I do that. God is way more capable than me. 🙂
