His Encouragement #19- What is True Liberty?

For 2020, I have chosen Isiah 41:10 as my personal verse. This lead into a theme for this year’s “His Encouragement” posts. Each week, I will look at another “fear not” Scripture of the Bible. I hope that as we journey together through these verses that we all will learn a little more about trusting God and rooting out the fear in our lives.

[Heb 13:6 KJV] 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Hebrews 13:6

Other passages in Psalms say this:

Psalms 56:4- In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
Psalms 118:6- The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?

Here’s what the New Testament has to say about it.

Matthew 10:28- And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Luke 12:4 KJV-And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

NOTHING happens unless God allows it. We will never understand (that’s why he’s God and we’re not), but we must trust that he has a reason and that all things will work out for our good and for his ultimate glory. True Freedom or Liberty is found only in HIM! In TRUSTING HIM! We don’t have to fear what man can (and will) do to us, because our trust is in the one who is above and over all.

True liberty is spiritual. It’s not found in the Constitution, or the Bill of Rights… Because no matter how we fight it, these things can be taken away. We don’t have the same “liberties or rights” our grand-parents had, and our grand-children won’t have the same “liberties or rights” we have today. It’s a matter of fact, time, and sinful men.

True liberty is found in the one thing mankind can never take from you–Your salvation and all the spiritual blessings that come along with it. Salvation is a free gift from God that can never be lost or taken away. I like the line from the old song, “The world didn’t give it to me and the world can’t take it away.”

Your peace. John 14:27- Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Your joy. Psalms 16:11- Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Your eternal riches. 1Peter 1:4- To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

Your song. Isaiah 12:2- Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

Your kinship with other believers. 1John 1:7- But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Your ability to approach the throne of God in prayer. Hebrews 4:16- Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

His Word. Isaiah 40:8- The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

His Love. Romans 8:39- Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Christian rejoice in what can never be taken from you!
