Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday on Stories By Gina. Thank you for joining me for another Top Ten Tuesday with The Artsy Reader.
Today’s Top Ten Tuesday theme is The Last 10 Books I Abandoned. This could be books I did not finish, was no longer interested in, or forgot I was reading and haven’t gone back to yet. I rarely DNF (do not finish) a book, so it was a little difficult for me to find 10, but I did. Remember, I’m not saying any of these are awful books, they just might not be my cup of tea, or at least weren’t at that time.
Enjoy!
1) Submerged by Dani Pettrey

Dani Pettrey is one of my top favorite suspense authors. The only reason I stopped reading this book is that it involves a plane crash and I was on an airplane at the time.
2) Leaving by Karen Kingsbury

I love Karen Kingsbury’s books, but I was also Team Cody. As soon as I learned Bailey does not end up with Cody, I stopped reading. (Sorry for the spoiler alert.)
3) Lady of Milkweed Manor by Julie Klassen

Again, I am also a fan of Julie Klassen’s books. However, when I read Lady of Milkweed Manor, I did something I never do. I skipped ahead and read the ending. I didn’t like the way the book ended, so I closed it and have never finished reading.
4) The Hidden Side by Heidi Chiavaroli

I enjoyed Heidi’s debut novel, Freedom’s Ring, so I was looking forward to reading her second. As I started the first chapter, I realized where the story was going and knew my limits emotionally. I couldn’t read passed the first chapter or so.
5) A Refuge Assured by Jocelyn Green

The book begins during the French Revolution, a revolting time to read about honestly. I got through those chapters, but had to put the book down for a while. When I tried to get back to it, I couldn’t remember what had happened up to that point, but I didn’t want to read the violent scenes again, so I just stopped. I have read another book by Jocelyn Green and it was very good.
6) True Devotion by Dee Henderson

I borrowed this book from a friend, but I had been reading a good deal of suspense books in a row that it overwhelmed me. I started the book, then stopped, and just have never gotten back to it- 14 years later.
7) The Rose of Winslow Street

Elizabeth Camden is one of my top favorite historical authors, so it’s actually ironic that one of her books is on this list. I started reading The Rose of Winslow Street, but just couldn’t get into it.
8) A Lasting Impression by Tamera Alexander

Have you seen this book? It’s huge! I started reading it and was enjoying the story, but its sheer size intimidated me and I chose not to invest the time.
9) The Butterfly and the Violin by Kristy Cambron

I’ve heard a lot of wonderful things about this book, so I tried to read it. I just couldn’t get into the story. Again, many people have enjoyed it, but it wasn’t my cup of tea.
10) The Silent Song of Winter by Robin Mason

This is the third book in a series, and I read through the first two. The story is interesting and there are a lot of twists and turns, but it the end I decided these weren’t for me.

I personally love Jocelyn Green. She has a few books with a French history background, which highly appeals to me. The goriness we got hit with in high school French class, so this wasn’t bad at all. The Seamstress by Allison Pittman would be one that you probs would like even less. I have a harder time with WWII novels or the Vietnam War stories.

You’re right. I didn’t really enjoy The Seamstress at all. It just wasn’t for me.

That is a great reason to stop reading Submerged! Do you get nervous on flights in general? I do a bit, so I always make sure to pack calm reading material that has nothing at all to do with anything that can go wrong on a flight.
My TTT .

Not usually. I enjoy flying. Getting through security is the part I don’t like.

I read The Butterfly and the Violin, but… I wasn’t overly impressed with it. I don’t think you’re missing anything. (Being Jewish, I was a bit… miffed that it sounded like no Jews were in the camps, or those that were there were in the minority.)
