His Encouragement #33- Thanksgiving part 3

I’ve joined my blogging friends for a new facet of my blog, called His Encouragement, inspiring scriptures shared each Thursday. My hope and my prayer is that these scriptures each week will bless your heart and encourage your soul.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Philippians 4:6 KJV

To be “careful” means to be full of care or anxious. This verse begins by exhorting us not to be anxious over anything in our life. Then it introduces a conjunction to be used as a contrast for what comes after. Instead of being anxious, we are to let our requests be made known unto God. How do we do that?

By Prayer and Supplication with Thanksgiving!

When something in life is making you anxious or worried or “full of care,” we must take it to God in prayer and supplication.

But why “with thanksgiving”?

Giving thanks to God is a release for the mind and for the soul. As you take your anxieties to Him, if you give thanks for all the blessings he’s given you… the way He has provided your needs, or protected your family… how He has answered prayer in the past… the storms He’s brought you through before… the family He gave you… the job… the home… the church…

You won’t feel anxious anymore.

So, give over your cares to Him today, with Thanksgiving… and watch those worries slip away into His ever capable hands.

He’s got this.

What scripture is encouraging you today? Share it with us!
