Can a couple of baristas chase down a car thief without spilling a drop of their favorite drink?

Plans for a Valentine’s Day grand opening of a small town coffee shop go awry when the first customer is killed. Evidence points toward the victim being mixed up in a car theft ring, but shop owners Tandy and Marissa have reason to believe he was framed. An assortment of suspects–from a pink-haired heir to Tandy’s charming ex–all seem to know a little too much about grand theft auto. Without approval from either their boyfriends or the gum-chewing FBI agent in charge, the shop owners go on stakeouts, plan stings, and pursue justice in a high-speed car chase.

If they don’t find the killer soon, it might be more than their love lives in trouble.

My Thoughts:

I love the CafFUNnated Mystery series by Angela Ruth Strong. These books tickle my funny bone with their outlandish characters and crazy circumstances. I enjoy the fact that they have a murder mystery to solve without being gruesome or frightening. They are super clean and I love that about them!

Tandy and Marissa are so different in personality that I love watching their friendship build. One of my favorite parts of this story is how Tandy and Marissa work to hide the fact that each has fallen in love with the others favorite drink. This leads to some silly hijinks all on their own.

Angela does an awesome job at keeping me guessing the identity of the killer, and I love the fact that she introducing the victim long enough so you care when they are killed, but not long enough that you feel cheated with the investment you’ve made into their existence, if that makes any sense at all.

I love the themes centering on the holidays and am looking forward to book 3, taking place on the Fourth of July. And I’m pretty sure I know what holiday will be focused on in book 4, but I’m not going to give it away!

I recommend these books for those who love clean cozy mysteries with quirky characters and crazy hijinks! (Yes, I’ve used hijinks, twice…um, three times in this review.)

I received a copy of this book from the author. A review was not required. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
