I’ve joined my blogging friends for a new facet of my blog, called His Encouragement, inspiring scriptures shared each Thursday. My hope and my prayer is that these scriptures each week will bless your heart and encourage your soul.

But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

James 4:6 KJV

Last night, God laid this verse on my heart to share today, but then I was reading over the passage in preparation of writing this post and I realized something. This verse is beautiful on its own, but if you read it in context, it becomes all the more potent.

From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

James 4:1-10 KJV

But He giveth more grace…

You’re having trouble getting along with certain people… He giveth more grace.

Everyone around you has better stuff… He giveth more grace.

Someone else got that promotion at work… He giveth more grace.

Life isn’t going the way you hoped… He giveth more grace.

You can’t seem to conquer some sin in your life… He giveth more grace.

You are so tired of using broken-down appliances… He giveth more grace.

You lashed out at someone in anger… He giveth more grace.

You hurt someone by something you said or did… He giveth more grace.

You don’t know how your going to pay the bills… He giveth more grace.

And the best part… all you have to do is humble yourself… admit that you need His grace to face whatever it is you’re facing… and HE GIVETH MORE GRACE.

Again and again and again and again…
