I’ve joined my blogging friends for a new facet of my blog, called His Encouragement, inspiring scriptures shared each Thursday. My hope and my prayer is that these scriptures each week will bless your heart and encourage your soul.
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Philippians 2:5-8 KJV
Made Himself of No Reputation
Took Upon Him the Form of a Servant
Made in the Likeness of Men
Became Obedient
I don’t know about you, but this is something I struggle with. I want to be a Somebody. Do you? Do you ever want other people to take notice of you and your talents, or your efforts, or your abilities? Jesus was God and yet, he made himself of no reputation. He even healed people and then told them not to tell others, but to simply thank God. He was God and yet, he didn’t want the glory for the things he did. Now, that’ll blow your mind!
God has been teaching me this for the last several days. I want to serve the Lord and bring him glory in all that I do. I want to live my life in a way that reflects him, that brings him notice. I want to be a nobody in the eyes of this world and be a somebody in His eyes alone. I’m giving him my talents and abilities. If he wants to use them, then I would happily allow him, but we–I also need to allow him to use others. I will give him praise no matter who he uses as long as He is the one who is getting the glory!
What scripture is encouraging you today? Share it with us!

I am definitely a person who is totally ok with being a nobody. I hate center stage. I’m an introvert to the core. But, this isn’t entirely a good thing. I’m learning to stand out of my comfort zone a little and not be so afraid of life and people. It’s hard, but I’m doing it a little more every day.
