I’m joining my blogging friends and am beginning a new facet of my blog, called His Encouragement, inspiring scriptures shared each Thursday. Here’s my first one:

       Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well.             [2 Kings 4:26 KJV]

In 2 Kings chapter 4, we find the story of the Shunamite woman and her husband. This woman graciously hosted the prophet Elisha in a little room set aside just for him. In exchange, he asked God to grant her greatest desire- a little boy. The prayer was answered, however when the child was old enough to go with his father to the fields, he becomes ill and passes away in his mother’s arms. This godly mother travels to speak with the man of God. On the road, she is met by Gehazi, Elisha’s servant and he asks her three questions, is it well with thee, is it well with thy husband, and is it well with the child. This godly woman answers, IT IS WELL.

Her child is dead and yet, she says “It is well.”

And as we see the story unfold, this woman receives a miracle for her faith- her child is raised from the dead.

Are you going through a trial right now? Or maybe many trials and you feel like your drowning beneath the weight? Hear the words of the faithful Shunamite woman- It is well. She believed that all would be well and she was comforted by that fact.

Trust that God has everything under his control, that all is (and will be) well, and watch a miracle unfold in your own life.
