My Thoughts
Elizabeth Camden is my #1 favorite historical romance author, and I adored her newest release, While the City Sleeps. While the City Sleeps is the first book in the brand new Ladies of Midtown series, and focuses on Katherine Schneider, a lady dentist in 1913. I loved this book! I cried through the last 20-30 pages of the book, and at one point, I uttered an audible “No!” Through the climax, I found myself turning pages as fast as I could read them, I had to know what was going to happen! Camden does an excellent job of keeping you on your toes until the very end.
One of my favorite lines from the story was this quote, “Don’t ever doubt in the darkness what is true in the light. If God is good and trustworthy in the easy times, you need to trust him during the dark nights of the soul as well.”
While the City Sleeps is chockful of romance, danger, friendship, rivalry–you won’t want to miss this wonderful story as two characters fall in love while struggling to escape his past and survive their present peril in order to have a future together. Who would have thought that a trip to the dentist and the effects of laughing gas would start off a chain of events that would put everything and everyone they love at risk.
About the Author

Elizabeth Camden is best known for her historical novels set in gilded age America featuring clever heroines and richly layered storylines. Before she was a writer, she was an academic librarian at some of the largest and smallest libraries in America, but her favorite is the continually growing library in her own home. Her novels have won the RITA and Christy Award, and she lives in Florida with her husband who graciously tolerates her intimidating stockpile of books.
