Every year since 2018 or so, I began asking God to give me a word and a Scripture for the coming year. Some examples are: Submit, Joy, Broaden… Each year, I’ve had worries or expectations about what that word might mean for me, but each time, God has worked it out in my life differently than I thought.

2024 is not different. About November, I began asking God for my word of 2024. I was sitting in church, and the preacher was reading from 2 Thessalonians. As my eyes traveled across the page, they fell on this verse. “Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:” (2 Thessalonians 1:11 KJV)

The word WORTHY popped off the page.

And the Holy Spirit said, that’s your word for 2024.

WORTHY

As I sought the Lord for more explanation, He expounded that word to include two words and lead me to three Scriptures to focus on as a group this year.

WALK WORTHY

Ephesians 4:1 KJV- I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

Colossians 1:10 KJV- That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

1 Thessalonians 2:12 KJV – That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

I don’t know what God has planned for my life for 2024. I know I have my own plans, hopes, dreams, and burdens, but His plan will be greater than anything I could imagine.
