For Parents: I love this story so much. It emphasizes the importance of being responsible in our jobs, but it also shows how each person has a purpose, and God has a plan for each person. What a great lesson for us to help our children understand. Some scriptures you may want to share with your children as you discuss this truth: Eph. 2:10, 1 Peter 4:10-11, Mark9:41. This is also a great book to use Romans 8:28 to show that even though the uncle was sick, God still used him. And each person, no matter how small their job or how seemingly unimportant, all jobs are truly important. Every person can help make everything work together well. Terrie Hellard-Brown uses her experiences as a mother of four (three on the autism spectrum), 35+ years in ministry (15 in Taiwan), and 35 years teaching to speak to the hearts of readers. She writes and speaks to empower children and adults to embrace everyday discipleship every day. She teaches workshops and writes devotional books, children’s stories, and Christian education materials.
Her podcast, Books that Spark, reviews children’s books that spark imagination, emotion, questions, and discussion leading to teachable moments with our kids.
