I’ve joined my blogging friends for a new facet of my blog, called His Encouragement, inspiring scriptures shared each Thursday. My hope and my prayer is that these scriptures each week will bless your heart and encourage your soul.
I’m very excited to share my personal verse for 2021 and begin a new journey together through the Word of God.
“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
Psalm 16:11 KJV
This leads into a theme for this year’s His Encouragement posts. Each week, I will look at another “path” found in the Bible. We will also look at verses with the word “lead.” I hope that as we journey together through these verses that we all will learn a little more about God and the paths he has for us to take in our lives.
Today’s verse is Psalm 27:11, “Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.”

The word plain means different things in our language. Plain can mean “ordinary” or “basic.” It could mean “uncluttered” or even “without frills.” But in this passage, that’s not what it’s referring to at all. I looked it up in the concordance, and this word in Hebrew can mean two different things. One, it can be referring to a plain country, as in a flat or level land. Or it can mean upright or justice.
“Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path…”
Dear God, show me how you walk so I can walk in it too! That’s what this verse is expressing! David wanted God to teach him the character of God, so he could follow in that same way of living. A just and upright life.
There are a lot of anecdotes about children following their parents’ footsteps through the snow and things like that, and I think that is exactly what the author is praying for in this verse.
Show me how You walk, Lord, so I can walk like You!
Do you want to walk like Him? In an upright and just way. Do you want to live in a way that reveals God to those who hate and despise Christianity? Are you walking in a plain path?
What scripture is encouraging you today? Share it with us!
