For 2020, I have chosen Isiah 41:10 as my personal verse. This lead into a theme for this year’s “His Encouragement” posts. Each week, I will look at another “fear not” Scripture of the Bible. I hope that as we journey together through these verses that we all will learn a little more about trusting God and rooting out the fear in our lives.
A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
Psalm 27:1, 3 KJV
Whom shall I fear?
If we’re perfectly honest, there’s a lot to fear in the time we’re living in. For me, I find the most confusing part is trying to determine what are legitimate fears, and what is nonsense. Still, nonsense can frighten, because there’s still that doubt that niggles at the back of our mind—what if it’s true?
I love this verse because even though I may feel like a host of troubles have encamped around me, or there’s a war going on my heart and my country, I have something that I can place my confidence in—The LORD, himself!
I love how this verse starts with The LORD in all caps. When LORD is written this way, it stands for Jehovah, the Almighty One, there is none higher than He! We can go straight to the top with our problems—no working through red tape or lower management. The BIG BOSS is available to take our complaints personally.
He is our Light. Salvation. Strength.
He is our Light, because He make our way clear and He drives away the darkness.
He is our Salvation, because He is our defense. He is our Liberty. And our Victory.
He is our Strength, because He is our Refuge. Our Safe Harbor. Our Stronghold.
What do we have to be afraid of when a God like this is on our side?
